Hard Surface Modeling

Hard surface modeling is pretty self-explanatory. It's basically modeling anything with a hard metallic surface with lots of curves and/or edges,  like cars, motorcycles, weapons, metal suits, and any other architecture that consists of metal. Below are 10 examples that will give you a good idea of what hard surface modeling is.

Tortilla Chips

Image
The biggest challenge was trying to figure out how to texture the chips and the salsa properly, as the particles would be standing up straight, and it looked terrible on both on them. I overcame this issue by interpolating the particle children, which then renders the original emission number to the power of the value that you set the display amount in the children section. This then caused the particles to be able to render in different angles, which looked much better on the chips and the salsa. Now the textures actually look proper for what I was trying to make.
